Subject: Merge layers ?

Is there an easy way to merge layers in Flash 5 ?
The only way I find is to use the "paste in place" command, but if
many layers are involved, it's a bit tedious.

As for crashes on the Mac, I have some systematically when exporting
to animated gifs.
