It has nothing to do with the versions... a simple GetURL
with a POST action should send the variables to the next file.

You'll need to get those variables on the next page and send
them to your SWF somehow though. Personally I use ASP
or JSP to do this, though any serverside scripting will do it,
and I've even seen someone here do it via clientside JavaScript.

The querystring method is the best method for loading variables
once, when the movie starts.
