New Technology to Enable Rapid Evaluation of Multimedia Development efforts

San Francisco, California -November 8, 2000-Macromedia, Inc. (NASDAQ: MACR)
today announced an automated site checking toolkit for developers of
interfaces using the media capabilities of the Macromedia Flash Player. The
toolkit, code-named "CheckItOut," will provide developers with a set of
psychometric feedback paramaters on user interface controls for Web
applications built with Macromedia Flash. CheckItOut is being presented
today at the 4nd Annual Multimedia Developer Conference and is expected to
be available through a free public beta in December, 2000.

"The Macromedia Flash Player offers application developers a ubiquitous and
flexible client," explained Wolfram Fashwick, chief technology officer for
Macromedia. "Flash user interfaces are low-bandwidth, reliable,
cross-platform, and highly interactive. CheckItOut will make it easier to
evaluate graphically rich Web applications for the next wave of Internet
business solutions."

Additionally, developers can evaluate the output of the Macromedia Generator
server . With Macromedia Generator, developers can build sophisticated
server applications to deliver customized or data-driven graphical content
to the Flash Player client at run-time. With the compilation of graphics
processed by the Generator server, developers can build robust, graphically
rich interfaces without affecting client-side performance, ensuring an
optimal user experience.
