Microsoft browsers cannot tell you what plugins they have. They lack the
navigator.plugins array.

Microsoft browsers on Win95/98/NT can tell you if they have certain types
of ActiveX Controls. Microsoft browsers on Macintosh and Win3.1 don't
really use ActiveX Controls, though.

So, if you'll be guiding the user's branching through JavaScript, then
those visiting on IE/Mac won't be able to have as automatic an experience
as those in other browsers. For this subset you might wish to ask them if
they know their browsers' plugins, for instance.
