Well, I do it all the time.

Administrators ought to be allowing for the stepped up use of e-mail for
whatever might come down the pipe.
How can the Internet remain a level playing filed if some of us are
strangled by the whims of the administrators?
Upgrade your service!
Where does this state affairs apply to ICQ and such?

Same as above, except now we can blame the software creators.

This is the best way in my opinion, also.
However, I recall no problems with e-mail attachments coming into my system
or going out of it - as long as I wait for it to come or go.
