Subject: FLASH: symbols: movie clip vs. graphic
From: Kurt Dommermuth

I tried MM site and the manual for info on the following but no such luck...

I find myself using MC's more often because I often want to communicate
with my "graphics" with Action Scripting.

I'm wondering if there is any disadvantage to just making everything an MC
even if there is no animation going on inside.

Are there any problems in terms of file optimization or anything like that?

Though I know there must be other reasons for wanting an image to be a
'graphic' symbol as opposed to an MC, the only one I can think of is when
you need it for a mask.

Anyway, flash 5 defaults to an MC when you hit f8 (pc).

Outside of certain masking situations, can anyone think of any problems
with just making everything Movie Clip type symbols?

thanks for any insights and I hope ya'll have great weekends!

:)

Kurt
