Subject: UKNM: A new use for grocery sites
From: Ray Taylor
Date: Tue, 8 Feb 2000 00:43:10 GMT

Here's a good reason for a big food retailer to trade online that I hadn't
thought of.

Several housewives in my part of the world have tried out Tesco and
Sainsbury's online shopping and report the same problem.

They order the week's shopping to find that all the "fresh" produce is
within a day of the 'display until' date.

What a great way to get rid of all your manky old lettuces otherwise
destined for the rubbish tip ;-)

Presumably they think that you can't/won't complain because it's still
within the limits allowed.
