Subject: UKNM: Cost of telecomms
From: Speechrad

1. Does anyone know if it's possible to run a webserver on an ADSL line?

2. Can anyone else foresee telecomms prices falling when ADSL comes on
stream?
Some figures - a 32Mb pipe will cost you £175,000 pa if you haggle. That's
equivalent to 64 x 512k ADSL lines at £40 per month My maths makes that
£30,000 pa for the same bandwidth (Leave aside for the minute that ADSL is
'contended' at present)
I read today that BT are likely to wholesale ADSL lines at £100 pa (£8.50
per
month) and that it's possible to make a good income reselling lines at £15
per month, which means £11,000 per year.

Or am I missing something (apart from telco greed)?
