We envisage there being a million+ potential customers for the card so I
don't think that the number is too much of an issue.
The other reason was to help promote the brand. If customers own a credit
card with our site name on it would be a good reminder device to use us for
the service (can't say what this is yet) that we provide rather than going
anywhere else.

I'm not sure a co-branded credit card for a site is necessarily a wise move
unless the customer base is large. Wouldn't it make more sense to build a
strong cross-marketing relationship with existing brand. Worldwide
Citibank's
iCard or VisaNext (which is reinforced by MyPoints programme) are designed
for net use.
