UKNM: Interstitials

I am trying to persuade my clients to use a small interstitial on their

homepage, to prompt visitors to register their e-mail address, but they

aren't keen - they reckon people will find it obtrusive.  Has anyone got any

experience of the beneficial effect of interstitials used for these purposes

(or any other) which I could use as ammo?
