Bless you citizen. This is one of my contentions. It's a key one in
fact. From the very beginning some individuals beta testing SW702 said
there were problems, and apparently they were disregarded before the
beta went public.

Then when it went public even more problems were reported. They were
disregarded too. In fact I recall one macromedian saying, in essence,
"this is the way it's going to be; it's not going to change".

Then reports of documented problems began surfacing, most notably on
macFixIt.com, but also from people who are not exactly cretins with
their systems.

Entire legacy content was malfunctioning or interfered with as a result
of the remote. And its Mac UI is undeniably fundamentally flawed.

I have been on top of *all* of this from the moment awareness first
struck me what was happening.

I am not making any of this up. It is happening all around us, and IT
departments are now slamming down the locks on Shockwave 7.0.2 because
of it. Some are blanket-cursing *all* plugins because of this. Some
designers are therefore finding themselves robbed of *all* tools --
including Flash -- and jammed back into the Net box as it appeared in
about 1994 or so.

This does not represent a great stride forward for *any* of us. And I am
not inventing a single god damned word of it.

John's remark stung a *lot*. Perhaps he's forgotten that I volunteer my
time to try to make Director accessible to absolute newcomers, or that I
have vociferously defended it whenever it was necessary, or that a good
slice of my server space is dedicated to maintaining free support and
extension files for anyone who wants them. I am one of the people who
keeps newbies afloat, and who keeps them using the app instead of giving
up and going to PowerPoint. And I am not getting paid a fucking dime to
do it either.

It's discouraging in the extreme to see such a glib statement
essentially stating that I am an incompetent from a macromedia.com
address.

Especially when my objection to the remote has a lot more to it than
simply disliking its interface or the way it's simply forced on end
users. It *is* a known source of trouble, whether or not John or anyone
else at MACR want to publically acknowledge that fact. It's in the
process of being fixed, in fact -- why do that if it's not fulla
problems, eh?

Thanks, Tom.
