It happens every single day, my friend. The first time I used Premiere was
"Trial by Fire" to land a project for Iridium because I "knew I could do it" and
I wanted an excuse to learn that particular tool as well as QT within Director.

Even though I've not really touched it, one the great things about Flash is that
you do not NEED to know HTML to use it because it also is able to act as a
standalone projector. While I know enough about Director to deem myself
mediocre in the usage of the tool, I still don't know how to "webify" content.
I'm not doubting that I could pick it up rather quickly...but the first time is
going to be a "new" experience and I'm guessing I'll have to pay a lot of
attention to what's going on. I'd hate to think of a surprise twist thrown in
there for me. Tools should always be developed for the LCTD (Least Common
Technology Denominator). That's not to say it should be inclusive to people
who's desktop computer is as useless as my stapler, however.

Stupid-proof is a bit hard, but pretty close to on the money. Just because a
user doesn't know HTML doesn't mean that they're stupid. The fact is,
Macromedia makes tools to "dummy-up" people to HTML (hellllllloooooo
Dreamweaver!) and they should be a little more aware of their audience, in
general AND they should have made this information a little more noticeable to
them.

That's my beef. And, mark my words... Awhile after this thread has died
(hopefully today--that it will die), someone else will pop-up with the question
of why this is happening and how do I correct it--not because they aren't
knowledgeable of the tool, but because they are unsure as to why this is
happening to them and because they need an answer for their boss who took it on
the chin at the demo 5 minutes ago.

Regards,

Russ
