I didn't start this thread, but I certainly dumped a lot of fuel on it
with my statement quoted above. Now, seeing all the responses that have
been generated, I am changing my tune and switching over to your side.

I have been checking the archives and they confirm my original point.
When I first wrote the above, there had been only 2 people on this list
complaining about the beta -- you and Till Steinmetz. And in both cases,
no one spoke up to agree with you. Mention casino ads or forcing
full-screen movies and there are 150 posts in a few hours. But pleas
from you and Till were mostly ignored. Some people wrote to say that
they didn't notice any problems.

Meanwhile, no mention by anyone on the Dreamweaver list, nothing on any
of the HWG lists, nothing on another Flash list I'm on, no problems on
my end, no problems mentioned by my Flash designer neighbor with Windows
98, IE, and the F5 plugin. It was reasonable for me to assume *at that
time* that the extent of the problem was not very wide.

But now, everyone has come out of the woodwork and I see that it is a
widespread problem. So I apologize for not recognizing this sooner.

Please note that I never criticized your situation or your argument with
MM. I was just remarking that a week or so after the F5 player beta was
released, only a handful of people on this list had anything negative to
say about the availability of the player. Where was everybody the first
time you brought this to our attention?! :-)

I am also glad to see that you and others seem to have had an effect
(assuming John D can get MM to revise their site) on influencing change.
Congratulations! Power to the people!

I'm CCing this to you because we never know when this message will ever
make it to the list.

Take care,
Ken
