       DROP OUTTA SCHOOL!!!


You probably aren't learning much, particularly compared with the investment

in time and money you are making.  Worse yet, when you graduate you'll owe a

whole ton-o-cash and none of your prospective employers will even care that

you've been there!  All they want to see is a portfolio or if you have

experience.  If you don't have any experience you get the same job you

WOULDA got without the degree, hehe.  Sad but true.  I know this from

personal experience but just recently one of my friends had a similar story.

His wife graduated with a degree in art or whatever near the top of her

class.  She's got $20,000 in student loans outstanding and the best job she

could get was for $8 an hour working at the fox animation studio we have in

Phoenix.  She's a grunt.  She coulda been a grunt 4 YEARS ago without a

degree.


That's probably the best financial/career advice I could give you in the

field of multimedia/graphic design.  If anyone has stories that contradict

this post em now, but that's my experience.


SECOND...

Photoshop, Flash and Freehand are my picks.  I use an old copy of Backstage

instead of Dreamweaver, but I'd put my money on DW for production tools.  I

don't know how important the production tool really is though.
