Subject: RE: FLASH: Flash Memory Requirements on Mac (was Reality checkre*Flash 4 Magic* file?)

I have created a few large flash files - these were not meant to run from the web - and I have not had any memory problems. I am on a PC with Window98 and 128 MB RAM on one machine, and 192 MB RAM on the other machine. If this error should occur in Windows I'd be really hosed as there is no way to dedicate a specific amount of memory to an application that I am aware of. All memory is available to all applications.

I, too, got this book. Thanks to the list, I tried cranking my memory
allocation to Flash. 120 MB didn't even do it, I had to crank it up to 135
MB. Now, I haven't done any large Flash projects before. I have worked
with Director for 5 years and the size of the graphics in the first sample
movie (preload.fla) for the book made me cringe; I can't imagine this would
really run well on the web.
Anyway, with 135 MB RAM allocated to Flash, I can't even export a Flash
file! It's telling me I am low on memory. Is this typical? Should I expect
to have my Flash memory requirements cranked through the roof to work on a
big project? I only have 192 MB on my G4; am I going to need to buy more
RAM if I want to do Flash development on it? Or am I better off purchasing
a copy of Flash for my PC instead?

Ideas?

Thanks!
Rebecca
