Helen,
Cheri is quite right and I wasn't going to answer because I knew it
would work, but as you've asked...
The problem is quite simple. When you want a flash movie to get data you
target a specific script in this case a ASP based one that should return
a properly formatted answer back to the flash movie. When you placed
your ASP code in an html file the server was processing the file and the
ASP code and sending back a full html file that flash doesn't know how
to process.
So with ASP the only thing you need is the response.write.... the rest
is done for you, and the flash movie get's a chunk of data that it can
understand.
Hope this helps, I tried not to get into technical details and to keep
it simple.
