Subject: RE: FLASH: John Croteau's Book ???

Mr. Koch,

I'll stop calling you Rick as I have before since it's clear to me now that
your shorts are currently riding kind of high and we are obviously no longer
on a first name basis. This despite the fact that you've taken the liberty
of referring to me by my first name instead of Mr. Weldon...you never really
granted me the permission to address you by your first name now...have you?

First, Let me humbly apologize to you that it clearly escaped my attention
that your response to my "on-list" posting was directly to me "off-list".
No excuse but I get, like many here, 100's and 100's of pieces of email a
day and frankly, S**T happens.

Second, since you've openly expressed a sensitivity about the material I
included from you in my posting, I strongly advise you not to email me
directly in the future regarding anything I public ally post to the list. I
say this since, although not very probable, it's not beyond the realm of
possibility that I could do the very same thing again. On the other hand,
if and when I ever email you directly about anything, please feel free to
use such email in any fashion you want...unless I expressly ask you not to.
And, by the way, I would never stoop to guess that the reason you may be
sensitive about all of this is quite simply that you never received any such
phone call from Mr. Croteau in the first place. No, I would never stoop to
that!

Third, your patronizing guesses about what Mr. Croteau's delivery problem's
might be put me in mind of another old Montana saying which is "....That dog
don't hunt"! I know what my options are. I've always known what my options
are! It's just that when I tell someone I'm going to do something...then I
do it. If God forbid, unforeseen circumstances arise and I find I can't
ultimately "do it", then I immediately let whoever I told I could...I can't.
More importantly....I also clearly explain to them why I can't!

Mr. Croteau personally steered us to the site in question in order to
purchase his book. I followed his recommendation out of nothing more than
my respect for the unselfish assistance he has provided historically to this
list. Once ordered and when the book failed to appear in a timely fashion,
I believed Mr. Croteau when he told me, more than once now, that he was
going to do what he said he was going to do. He even posted such public
ally to the list...but only after you and I and others ultimately complained
about non-receipt. But, we've now burnt far too much daylight on those
promises. My time is just as valuable as anyone else's and Mr. Croteau has
wasted a lot of my time by telling me to hold on and he'll deliver on his
promise. Furthermore, you have absolutely no knowledge of what charges
related to this book have or have not; will or will not; appear on my
personal credit card.

On a final note, I find it more than revealing that instead of first
addressing your concerns to me in private and requesting a response to them
from me in private...you rushed into the glare of the headlights with this!
Did I say before that I wouldn't stoop....Nah....the hell I won't! Tit for
Tat.

Michael,

First, I responded to you off list to keep comments private. I don't
appreciate your re-posting my message to the entire list.

Second, I have no relationship with John Croteau whatsoever. I wish I
did, then perhaps I'd have a leg up in becoming fluent in actionscript.

Third, I suspect John is very busy, much like the rest of us, and the
books will come in time. I am willing to wait for it. If you are not,
then I recommend purchasing it elsewhere. Your credit card is not being
charged for the book so no loss there.

Finally, I am as disappointed as you all are about not receiving it in a
timely manner. If there were anything I could do about it, I would. I'm
guessing John is quite embarrassed about this snafu which is probably
beyond his control as well. Perhaps that's partly why he's been absent
from the list.

I'm looking forward to the Flash 4 Bible, however. Now, if I could just
get Amazon off the dime on that one!!

Rick K.
