A rich-media experience is useful, but is not perceptible by all possible
audience members.

Audio can be useful for many audience members, but is not perceptible by
all possible audience members.

Full-screen displays are useful for many audience members, but may not suit
the needs of all possible audience members.

Not everyone is on the web, so that goal is difficult. Identifying the
audiences and the message, and figuring out the best way to communicate
that message to each sub-audience, is part of the core design work. (For
special needs you can often design an alternate path, such as an
unformatted text-based representation... that's a way to hit PDAs, for
instance.)
