Well, an MP3 file is already compressed... pretty highly so, in fact. If
it's a 4-megabyte deliverable file, then that's pretty large, and I'd guess
it would take a long time to play.

You can often control the final size of an MP3 by choosing the modem speed
it's designed for... start with a high-quality file, and the compressor
will intelligently toss away bits to meet your target delivery speed.

You can also compress an MP3 further by choice of content: just as with
JPEG, areas of similarity compress very well, while areas with sharp
contrasts require more bytes to describe.
