Mornin' all...

An interesting press release popped through the door this morning and given
the recent debate about the inclusion of Usability as a criteria on NMA's
site inspection, I thought this would be of interest. Here's a snippet...

Competition Challenge: To Create A Winning Web Site Judged Solely on the
Notion of Usability

The National Autistic Society (NAS) and City University, London have joined
forces to launch NAS/NetMedia 2000 Web design competition. The theme for
this year's contest springs from a simple conviction: that the Web is for
everyone and simple, effective communication is vital in ensuring people of
all abilities benfit from using it.

For many Web users 'cool' design tools maybe irritating diversions,
hindering immediate learning, but for people with autism, and other
disabilities, such wizardry can be actively detrimental obstructing access
to, and preventing engagement with a site's most important feature - its
content.
