Digital Mission Research Survey 2011

SXSW 2010

Chinwag's Digital Missions, hosted with the help of UK Trade & Investment, have been running for over 3 years, and have included 7 trips to the USA, as well as helped promote and recruit for trade missions to Japan and China.

The missions have been a huge success with dozens of companies finding new business, setting up offices in the US and finding long-term business partners and friends amongst the mission companies.

We're continually looking to improve the missions and look at new destinations, and this is where you come in.

SXSW Interactive: Networking with an International Twist

Everyone knows that there is no such thing as a free lunch. Or breakfast. Or drinks...

That is, unless you're in Austin for South by South West (SXSW). The Chinwag team will be heading out to Austin along with UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) and 31 of the UK's leading digital companies on the UKTI Mission to SXSW.

Alongside the 200+ conference sessions, the trade show (where the Brits have a stand so big, it's been dubbed the British aisle - geddit?) and dozens of evening events, there's more than a handful with an international flavour. 

For those heading in to Austin from abroad, it's a great chance to meet fellow travellers, and the Americans interested in making connections overseas. Here's a few we're involved with (and if you know of more, please feel free to add them in the comments):

Creative and Digital Media Apprenticeships offer a great way to harness fresh new talent that understands the digital world.  They provide £10k worth of industry designed training, professional development  and up skilling of existing or new staff across a 12 month period and at no cost to your company (excluding the wage that you pay them).

Many employers are taking on apprentices to help support project delivery, build and run their websites, develop social marketing strategy and run events.

Following on from our recent launch of the Creative and Digital Media Apprenticeships at Apple’s headquarters we have a further 20 free and fully funded apprenticeships available to employers now.

UKTI Announces Executive Lunches & Best of British Showcase at Games Developers Conference 2011 (GDC)

The Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2011 is the world’s largest professionals-only game industry event. GDC 2011, taking place between 28th February and 2nd March, commemorates its 25th edition and serves as a testament of how far the industry has come and as a celebration of its bright future.

UK Trade & Investment are supporting UK firms attending GDC with two sessions providing an opportunity to connect with leading US publishers, understand the trends in the US market and showcase their wares to an international audience.

Rome have 70 confirmed events and New York are aiming for 125! Let’s not be beaten by the Americans or the Italians, let’s make London the best on both quantity and quality!
